That was one of my early thoughts when my brick was giving me a hard time and if I remember correctly the FAQ pages do have a diagnostic procedure for the ECT sensor . It sounded a little involved what with multimeter readings and so forth and the thing is hard to access, so for a few bucks I just replaced the ECT. It didnt do anything for my problem though. But I will say this: after doing my research about the ECT and its function I believed it very well may be the problem and thats why I replaced it. It was the error part of my trial and error process
