Just when you think you've got everything under control...
I already found a short forward driveshaft and a small diameter J-type output flange. I've had them for a couple months and have been working on installing a new U-joint. Ask me how I screwed that up at some later date.
Anyway. After getting the long-shift cover and OD lockout switch onto the 1971 J-type M41, I turned my attention to the big-arse nut holding the large diameter output flange. It came off with some careful bracing on the flange, preserving the integrity of the OD unit....
However, my new small diameter J-Type output flange DOES NOT FIT!!!!
I was told that both shaft and flange came from a J-type OD. However, the new flange is fractionally too large. It just spins.
This completely stops the process. I plan to *eventually* upgrade to the large diameter driveshaft when I convert the P1800's axle to fit the wagon, but that's a couple of years off. This totally derails me... Now I don't see any other way to use a J-type on my 1.75" drive shaft diameter car without some serious welding...
Does a small diameter J-type output flange exist???
Any ideas on what I can try now?
