fuel system mods? 1800

I know that this may seem sacrileges to some, but I’m seriously considering modifying the fuel delivery system on my 1800ES. This car has almost 180k miles on it and the old d-jet system needs some work. The parts to maintain d-jet are expensive; ipd sells injectors for $235 each, fuel pumps are $385, and many of the other parts are hard to come buy. I also find the d-jet system difficult to tune and I’ve heard about it’s performance applications are limited. Not to mention the fact that I’ve never talked to anyone with a stock system who gets much better that 20 mpg. A weber carburetor seems like an easier and more economical alternative. I’ve started researching megasquirt because of it’s strengths in performance and fuel economy, but it seems expensive and difficult. Any thoughts? Has anyone out there done either of these conversions? What were your results? How did you install it?
