"I got an emergency brake from Partsamillion.com a few years ago. It was the "short cable" It was something like $140 from Volvo, $70 from a local parts jobber and $14 from partsamillion."

Maybe prices have changed, but the current OE price for that short cable (Tasca Volvo, Seekonk, MA http://www.getvolvoparts.com/) is a lot less than $140-ish, and only $12 from FCP. I recently put the $12 one on my 940.
