Call her and have her husband check if the system is charging properly-- he should be seeing 13.7-14.2V across the battery terminals with the car running. If not, it is probably time for a voltage regulator/brush pack-- cheap to replace, and easy to get at in the 700 cars where the alternator sits up high. Two phillips screws and you're done...
