I was curious why you would be pulling the engine for a clutch related issue?
I might try something light like Marvel Mystery Oil to flush the little pieces down into the pan.
I would also use a shop vac around the pistons while the head is off to try to grab anything that may have fallen between the cylinder bore and the piston. Use a wet/dry vac to hopefully remove any coolant that may have spilled into the bore and is trapped above the top ring.
