The inside of the cooling system - is this normal? 700 1989

I have been changing the thermostat recently at a '90 745 turbo, and was advised to change the thermostat housing as well, as they told me it might be 'badly corroded'. I did not find much corrosion there though, only slight. I would rate the corrosion I got at approximately 1/2 or even 1/3 of what you show in your pic.

I own this car for about a year only, and can not give you an expert comment unfortunately. Just sharing my own experience...
