Sorry for the late reply everyone. I'm in malaysia and our internet connection has been affected due to the quake in taiwan.

Thanks for the reply. I am using volvo coolant. I've had the car for about 5 years now. How well the cooling system was maintained PRIOR to that by the previous owner, I don't know. Probably neglected as you say.

During my first coolant change (5 years ago) on the 740 the drain block was totally blocked. After scraping the drain hole rust particles came out.

So any magic stuff I can do to get rid of the rust in the engine block?
