I plan to replace the downpipe, John, but I swear I can't hear the heat shields rattle. I guess when the boys down at the garage were looking for a noise they were listening extra carefully and assumed I was worried about a very tiny rattle, since they couldn't hear the very obvious destructo-noise that was coming from the bellhousing.

Dad wants me to pull the downpipe and weld the crack but it's so beat up I think I'll replace it - any suggestions on where to get this insanely expensive exhaust pipe cheaply?
