From what I have seen of your DCOE linkages John, you need to make link rod from the carburettor up to manifold mounted shaft a lot longer so the the arm on the manifold is standing straight up & down. Being able to squeeze slowing really boosts fuel economy too, you should have a 50 pump bleed to get the best slow pedalling economy out of it.
Another trick I do to my 140/164's is to move the pedal back so that it's twice as far away from the firewall. It makes heal & toeing a piece of cake + doubles the distance the accelerator can travel. (This stuff becomes really important when you get up to 48mm throttles.)
