I am a VCOA member and have been one for a couple of years. I am not aware of a chapter closer than an 8 hr round trip. It might be that there aren't as many of the vintage cars here in eastern Canada because of the colder weather and the salt. That being said I have gotten more than my moneys worth. I have met members like Cam Price who are willing to do what ever it takes to help you solve a problem or get you a part to get you going. I attended the East Coast meet ( my first) last fall and I was truely impressed with the professional execution of the entire event. I would recommend it to anyone. It also gave me an oportunity for a weekend away with my son who enjoyed it as much as I did. Everyone we met was courtous and sincere. Not once did I here remarks like "what do you do for a living" in an attempt to find out how much you make or "how big is your house" they were there for the event and a good time. We have made friends who we regularly keep in contact by email. We are planning on attending this years meet at Carlisle. There were some pristine cars and some not so pretty ones and they were all treated the same. I am glad I am a member and will continue be one.
