Trouble with 122 automatic 120-130

I had the same problem, and replaced the bushings with rubber stoppers (!) that I drilled out, then wound medium gauge wire around each end of the rod to make sure it was secure and would not fall off. That fix has lasted me 6 months, it shifts great and seems fine.
