Thump when shifting S90-V90 1998

I have filled my transmission with Toyota Type IV trans fluid, this trans is identical to the one found on the Lexus LS400 and Toyota insists that only Type IV fluid is used. I would say pure synthetic trans fluid is also acceptable, but I found the toyota fluid to do the trick and as a bonus cost significantly less.
