Fuel pressure 140-160

It is a carb B18B engine. Not fuel injected. I didn't have a T handy so I took line off output side of fuel pump and put the gauge there. Enough fuel in carb bowls to run engine to test pressure. Less then a pound connected to fuel tank. If I connect to a gas can for input pressure goes up to 2.5.

If there is a tube inside the tank going to bottom of tank that is connected to the external fitting how can you service it? Or can't you? Only other fittings on tank are the filler and fuel sender on top.

Might check pressure again before I do anything with the tank. I was going to drain the tank and take fuel line off tank and remove 90 degree fitting on tank but I'm not sure what that would buy me?
