Well, You might try using some Permatex Ultra Blue gasket sealer around the perimeter of the housing and in the areas where the damage was. Lay it on a little thick and when you put the seal in the excess should squeeze out. I'd let the sealant cure for at least 24 hours before running the engine. there's no guarantees but it should work. Good Luck!
