The Mikuni's are probably better at getting some decent MPG. I've got DCOE's on the PV's 175-ish HP B20 and they jsut don't like running on the lean side of things, they get all snorty and indignant. Keep them a little on the rich side and they are happy, but then you don't get the good MPG.

I've got a VV-81 Isky cam in mine, and it comes on at 3200 rpm and pulls hard up to at least 7000, makes a wonderful howl.

I put a T5 on the 245 wagon, because the motor was stout enough to shred 3rd gear one cool morning. It has the .63 5th gear, along with the original 3.73 rear end. It's a definite break in flow going up through the gear when you get to that 4th-5th shift. Very tall gear, you have to have some serious grunt in the engine compartment to push it up hills. Works well enough for me, though. If driving 'spiritedly' you don't really need 5th gear, you can get up to ridiculous enough speeds in 4th. And when on an extended highway stint, 5th gear is very relaxed. I have to be going at least 75 mph (and into the rpm range where i get decent boost) to make it up the hills without shifting, though.
