Most of my experience is with S.U. carburetors, so please pardon me if this seems obvious.
I have a Weber DGV that runs quite well in mild and hot temperatures. However, it hesitates in cold weather--especially when engaging the clutch from a stopped position. In addition, if I am coasting, say in 2nd gear, it will hesitate just a split second when I start to give it more gas. If the temps get down into the teens or twenties, it will nearly stall when I disengage the clutch after driving at a constant speed for more than a few minutes. All of this, of course, happens when the car is fully warm and the choke is open (pushed in).
Does this sound like I need a different idle circuit or a bigger jet?
Sidedraft S.U. carbs do not have the accelerator pump unlike the Weber. I understand that I can prime the engine come winter. Is it normal to give 5-8 prime pumps before cranking?
Thanks all,
LMT
