The problem you are having is because nobody has *ever* had that happen, therefore, it's hard for folks to believe...

I am absolutely certain that IPD will be good to you when you show them a picture and/or send that ball joint back to them. Pretty significant safety issue, and both IPD, and the manufacturer will want to look into that situation pretty deep.

That's a big nut, with deep threads. A human being should not be able to strip such a nut (or rather, the shaft) with a hand tool. Let alone that it should be a hardened shaft...
