I'm still fighting poor mileage, but I'm almost 100% sure I no longer have any gas leaks. Still my mileage is sub-20 mpg. My last 2/5th of a tank gave me around 16 mpg after I replaced a leaking inline fuel filter...
I'm starting to suspect my front bearings might be another mileage killing issue. I've now replaced my front calipers, short hard-lines, and brake hoses, but I still suspect that there is something up with my front wheels. I also replaced my passenger side steering rod and the driver's side wheel hub when I did my newer calipers and such. My passenger side hub is still original...
I've noticed a bit of a weird noise when I'm coasting. Not quite like the rumble I got when the rear bearings were going out on my 67 wagon, but maybe similar enough to be my front bearings. I've not checked lately, but I did have an issue where my front wheels were VERY warm after a drive, but my wheel hubs did not appear to be scoured shiny like I would have expected with simple brake binding...
The car pulls a bit to the passenger side, but I'm not sure if it just needs an alignment after a new steering rod...
Can the front bearings be replaced easily by yourself, or do you have to have the race pressed into the hub? Is it worth replacing them even if I am not sure they are the problem?
Weather is going south around here and I need to get this issue solved before it snows or something...
