122 emissions 120-130 1968

Here in Arizona (at least in the Tucson & Phoenix areas) All cars post 1966 have to be tested yearly. My '68 220 wagon has not failed in several years and had an HC reading in Oct. (when last tested) of 151 (ppm) - and a CO of .98%.
These are graded by year model with a 'jump' in what is allowed in about 1975 and another somewhere in the 80/90's. The numbers on my car are in the mid to high range, but seem pretty stable for the last couple of years.
On the B18/20s, if your CCV system/ign/carbs are in reasonable shape then emissions are pretty much ok as long as there is good sealing of rings and valves.
A stock 120 series Volvo in good tune (IMHO) does no more, and likely less, to degrade the atmosphere than a current SUV or full size pickup driven the same amount because of the volume of gasses processed by the two engines.

Cheers!
OK
