I inherited a Larin 2 ton floor jack with the purchase of my car over two and a half years ago. It has seen extensive service during my resoration project and if you don't need to lift anything higher than about 15" I would recommend one even though it is no doubt made by our new best friends (Where would Wal-Mart be without them?), the Chinese.

It has held up remarkably well and I find them on the internet for around $30.00 and suspect they would also be available locally in any large city.
