The electrics seem OK from your description, Jerry (otherwise it wouldn't kick in to begin with). I'd stick with the advice to have the O-rings checked. You should probably add that you have a type J overdrive and, as such, have a different wiring than the type D: no relay plus the fact that the light on the dash more or less just indicates the position of the wand - not the state of the solenoid.
