actually, there are an infinite number of positions... only five potential positions that it will go in.. well... six if you count neutral.

So, any given random stab gives you 6 out of infinity... not bad odds.

Hope that helps :-)

Whatever you do, don't force it. you'll know when you got it right. If you get it wrong and try to force that bolt on, it will likely break the mechanism on the inside of the transmission cover.. forcing the tranny to be removed... at which time, you might as well do the clutch and rear seal...
