Glad you found the culprit. I enjoyed the post... it was much like a roundtable discussion in a smoke filled room.

I am a little confused though about the fact that it was wired wrong. That was just a function of you making the incorrect connections when you replaced the pump, right, and not some error we can attribute to the manufactuer?
