Things to do on the new 145? 140-160 1968

Based on previous discussion, and considering the overall condition of the car, my list would look like:

0.1) name her if that's the sort of thing you like to do (this step could be moved to 7th place.. sometimes it takes a while).
0.3) adjust idle or or timing or whatever it takes to keep it running at idle. Perhaps running lean. Order your book that covers your model carbs right away. While your messing with stuff under the hood, lubricate distributor. A few drops on the cloth under the rotor, and fill up the little oiler on the side. Often overlooked.
0.5) Check or have checked the front end and alignment
1) Change oil
2) check/change tranny fluid. M40s aren't too particular. Gear lube of whatever type you choose.
3) remove those rear ears and fill/touch up the holes best you can.
4) spend a day being intimate... super clean her inside and out, windows. Wash engine.. no need to pull it for that. Just get a can of of engine bright, take it to the car wash, put a bag over the distributor and go to town. Wear old clothes. And wash the engine before you wash and wax the exterior.
5) drive drive drive. Get familiar with it. Only way to know what needs to be done is to find out what is and isn't wrong, and the only way to know that is to drive it. It'd be nice if you could find someone (anyone here nearby???) that is familiar with 140s and have them drive it to identify things that aren't the way they should be.
6) got out your road map and plan a ~2000 mile trip in the latter part of April!
