thinking of the dark side... what are the issues with V70 / XC70 compared with RWD?

I have read of some head problems in the 850s but did they continue in the x70 models? I'm only a backyard mechanic and I (enjoy?!?) working on keeping my 965 and 745 on the road but a FWD scares me (ooooh).... what have you folks done if you made the switch?
