Our 97 850--we put 145k miles on it in the first three years. Had to change....mmmm, lemme see, brakes, tires...and the thermostat. At 155 the main fuel pump died. Then up to 175 we did...brakes and tires and the ABS module. Had to charge the AC. The ABS module is the one recurrent thing we've had to do on all of our white block cars. Great cars though. 70 series, we are very enamored of the 98s. 99 gets you electronic throttle with related problems. 2000 seems to be the beginning of the nightmare transmissions (no experience, but a bunch of stories from others). From 2003 on they seem to be okay again. Properly cared for, and I believe the alloy engines definitely need more care of the cooling system, they are great cars IMHO. We have had two 98 V70 GLTs, one still in the corral, next to the 98 S70 that my daughter drives. Sorry, no experience with the AWD models.
Good luck to you!
