Timing Gear R+R 140-160 1971

Fibre gears are fine for stock engines. Be sure when tightening the big cam nut that you restrain the cam gear with a holding tool through two of the three large holes in the gear face. DO NOT restrain the cam by holding it with the teeth engaged with the crank gear.
The sleeve can be polished - I do it in a lathe. When installed skillfully the felt seal works well. The housing must be properly centered to achieve a leak free install. Use a .005, .006. and a .007 feeler gauge strip around the sleeve at 120 degrees to center the cover. DO NOT use sealer on the cover gasket or the pan bolts will pull it downwards when tightened and cause leaks.
I've machined the covers to accept the neoprene seal, but you'll need a big lathe to do that.
