Incorrect wiring blows the amp(output transitors), not the speakers. As someone said check the spkrs on another stereo, 4ohm, 8 ohm matters less than you'd think. If somehow you integrated the factory in-console amp with the new head unit you'd certainly have a problem. Otherwise you are buying junk head units.
