Hi,


Put the car in drive and hold the brake. Now fully depress the accelerator. The reading on the tachometer should be around 3000 RPM. If the transmission is slipping, the reading will be higher.

If the engine is misfiring, there will be a low top speed and a noticeable "fuming" of the engine exhaust. Idle may also be affected.
