Yes, sounds very much like the CPS. Runs fine when it starts? Additional symptoms may eventually include running fine, then dies, but will restart. Also check the powerstage, the ignition amplifier on the fender wall next to the battery. Make sure connector is clean and also remove it from the firewall and make sure contact area is clean. Next time the symptom occurs, shake the wire pigtail going to the CPS and see if that gets things going. If so, that's your culprit.
