Besides the B18A, B, and D, there were also B18 number types 1, 2, and 3. The major differences between the types 1, 2, and 3 were cams and heads. The major differences between the types A, B, and D were the carbs. Various combinations of cams, carbs, and compression ratios produced different power levels.
The fuel injected engines were designated E or F.
I have wondered why there was never a B18/20C. Any speculation on that one?
