I made a mistake with my table. The column that says Dynamic compression is actually Static compression & Elgin recommends 9:1 Static compression.
I have three questions for Dema:
1. Does he intend that you should run your cam straight up & not advanced?
2. Seat timing should be seat timing! Why advertise it as 274 if it's actually 290?
3. Why does he want you to close the tappets up? The website says .017".019" IE for MGB with 1.45 rockers.

You degreed in the cam, when does the inlet valve actually close?
You need to recurve your distributor so that you can have 15º at idle & 34º max. You may need less total timing with your compression too, so try less. The reason for more timing at idle is that it means you can run less throttle to get the same idle speed & with a bit of luck, reduce dieseling. Dieseling itself isn't much of a problem, just ride the clutch in 4th gear as you turn the engine off to stall it. If you look at every modern OEM carburettor, they all have a electric solenoid on the idle circuit to cut fuel off & without that, they diesel too. Naturally dieseling is not a problem with EFI.
