Just a wild thought, but if someone has "monkeyed" with the turbo system, ie. pre-oiler and performance filter, perhaps that magic switch is for a "turbo timer". These are typically used in rice burners and they allow you to "flip a switch/push a button" when you arrive at your destination and then remove the keys and lock the car with the engine still running for a preset period of time. The whole idea is to let the turbo cool down by letting oil continue to circulate.
Just a thought.
