Advice on where to start 444-544 1956

How familiar with points ignition systems are you? (the original poster that is)

Do you know how to check for spark at various locations in order to narrow the diagnostics search?

Start at the plugs, if no spark, check direct from the coil, if still no spark, check at the points...

My guess is you will find spark at the plugs.. and you'll probably want to replace the plugs.

To add to Erics list, I would bring a spare coil, a volt meter so you can check for voltage at the coil. And.. for preliminary attempts to start this thing, bring a 12v coil, and a 12v battery... some jumper cables.. jumper wires.. such that you can bypass the original ignition system including the switch (expect for the starter)

Some years ago, I spent two days trying to get a 544 running for hte first time in a number of years... I went through everything about 3 times each, Had fuel, had spark, had bypassed the fuel tank, pump, entire ignition system, cleaned the carbs, replaced the carbs of a known running car. I did eventually get it running.

What could I have replaced to save about 15 hours of frustration?

I could have replaced the plugs... live and learn.
