How does this AT shift rod attach to the trans? 200

I think IIRC, that the L shaped end is supposed to be able to rotate (for engine/tranny movement) on the rod cable adjuster end. So, the adjuster and L cannot simply be welded together to fix it. I think the factory puts a plastic washer in there and then stakes the end of the adjuster over the L bracket. I would hammer it back on to deform the end so that it goes back together in the way that the factory assembled it originally. It may originally had a washer in there too, before flaring the end over it and the L bracket. One could weld the flared end and the washer together as long as the L and bracket could still rotate. It was not put together at that point by an E clip (or C clip) if I recall correctly. Make any sense?
