Last evening I did a few basic things to the Volvo in an attempt to improve how it idles after a cold start.
1. Cleaned the throttle body.
2. Checked some vacuum hoses and cleaned out the two little fittings where the vacuum hoses attach on the throttle body.
3. Checked the ground connections on the intake for the fuel injectors. Sanded the wire connections and the intake to make them shiny and applied some dielectric grease.
4. Just for kicks I swapped out the fuel injection relay with a spare used one I had.
Yesterday on the way home from work the car loped and idled poorly for probably 2 minutes when first started up. It sounded like certain cylinders were not firing at all. The car lacked power and hesitated a bunch when accelerating from a stop.
This morning the car idled poorly for only about 5-10 seconds and then smoothed out nicely. No hesitation problems while driving to work.
