David, that story was worth my butting in. Well told. I admit I didn't come as close to disaster with my most similar trick, because the key wasn't on, but the stick-shift has no such neutral safety provision.

Regarding your compliment, thank you. I am aware though, what I have learned is a "specialist's knowledge" forced somewhat by my resistance to own or play with anything but Volvo 240s for ten years. I'm missing most all that has gone before and come since. Becoming a specialist can be compared to cowardice; hiding in a comfortable technological hole.
