The B21 and B23 are rough and tough engines, properly cared for they can do a million plus miles without popping the head or the oil pan. When it comes to the B230F after they fixed the thrust bearing problem, if you take care of it you can get your million miles. I pulled a 1992 B230F apart that was running great, the thrust, rod, and main bearings were well within spec. The pistons were in spec as were the rings, she had 236K on her through an M-47 and didn't even have a ring ridge in the cylinder walls that exceeded 0.0015"! Now that is what I call an engine!

ps. 1965 T-bird, 62K miles with a 390, the cylinder wear was 0.054" which meant a double over-bore job. It would have been cheaper to replace the engine rather than rebuilding it, but it was a numbers matching car... and the wallet felt the pain!
