When I bought the car 4 years ago it was leaking badly from the A/C - the floor boards were wet. I cleaned the drains/channels then. The A/C has since died so that cured the problem - I never feel any water. I am keeping an eye on that fire wall (glove box is still removed) and so far I can't detect any dampness or moisture anyway but will follow your instructions to make sure.
