You definately want to run coolant thru the manifold whether in southern ca. or Alaska

You are 100% correct, always run coolant. If you think the manifold is too hot, try a 1/4" or 5/16" restrictor.


unfortunately fuel economy is not it's strong suit

Eventually, you should be able to get nearly the same economy as twin SU's, but as you say, it takes a lot of playing with the jetting.

Can you tell us what jetting you have & a little about your motor please?
