I noticed today that my speedometer cable had somehow ended up resting on the exhaust pipe, and the plastic housing on the cable melted through. At the melted point the cable has leaked some caramel colored fluid. I was under the impression that the cable should not contain any fluid in the first place, only a bit of grease. If I'm wrong here someone please correct me and I'll just replace the cable + heat wrap it.
Otherwise, how could fluid be leaking at this point? It does not appear to be leaking at the O ring where the speedo cable attaches.
