It works. I thought the one wire tach was ONLY one wire and that the other to wires were self-enclosed in the unit. They had a strange terminal on the front actually, it was from a powered Volvo gauge socket I guess. Anyway, I used that one instead of the backlit one, and it just has 3 wires. Positive from ignition switch only when key is on, neg grounded to one of the heater cable screws, and from the coil. Now I'll have to rig a little lite above it.
