My dad bought our 144 new and looked after it well. Reason why the mechanisms are lasting so long is because he always parked it in a garage (even rented someone's garage near his work) and he glued rubber "wipers" where the glass goes down into the doors to stop water from getting in. Think those "wipers" helped a lot.
