ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor) 900 1995

By all means, clean the ECT connector and check the wiring. I had the same problem on my car.

Symptoms of no ECT sensor signal to the ECU are:
1) Radiator fan turns on a few seconds after car is started, even when cold, first thing in the moring, and stays on.
2) Radiator fan continues running up to 10 mins after engine is shut off.
3) Difficult cold starts, runs rough for 5-10 seconds after cold start.

If you car doesn't have these symptoms, chances are the CEL will remain off.
