BMW TV Ad Makes a Fool out of 240s

I spied a new BMW television ad.

It featured a few other, decades old cars, yet focused on a 1986-1988 Volvo 240 wagon, traveling uphill on some highway in a steppe or desert environment, like the SW U.S.

The (I guess 1986-1988) Volvo 240 wagon was a cream color, full of a family showing some discomfort as viewed from the driver (U.S. left) side. The Volvo 240 wagon travels up hill and spews black smoke like the coal-fired late 19th century industrialist revolution. The BMW races by and the visual narrative follows it, yet shows one or two of the 240-contained family members' eyes following the BMW racing by.

Now, such a comparison is just stupid by the BMW as writers. And I'm offended by it.

So, can someone that owns, cares for, and drives an 80s model 240 step up to a new 50K $ U.S. BMW that is brand new? Maybe, I guess.

I'll look for the advert again. There may be other more subtle messages going on there between the voiced narrative and the visual narrative. Maybe You Tube has it. I dunno.

Has anyone seen this ad?

Thanks.

Volvo 240 FOREVER! (And fuzzy kitties to chauffeur them!0 (or at least ride on the rear hat shelf in the full sun).
