Also being a woodworker and having done years of auto upholstery and trim, the headliners and convertible tops generally are an advanced project as the needed glue guns and tuck tools and tightening techiques are found only in trim shops and their employees skills if a OEM or better replacement is wanted. To get rid of the odor, they will be replacing all material and cleaning the metal under-roof as otherwise, the odor can return even with odor banning products. Some things are ok to do yourself, but big messes are better avoided. Matching carpet is easier as many places let you send in samples or they send you sample for a small fee. As for what happened to your Volvo, like when an engine harness got nibbled, I said, rats!
