At least on the 164, later is better because the early models had the clutch pedal shaft
cantilevered from one end held by a single 5/16"-18 UNC bolt in the end of the shaft.
Fatigue eventually kills this bolt. Later models have a box on both ends of the clutch shaft
with support on both ends also, not so subject to fatigue.
Happened to me at a 4-way stop in the interior of Panama. Driving home from there with
no clutch control was exciting to say the least.
I suspect that the 140 pedal box may have the same issue. I think I replaced the one on my 69 164 with a 72 or 73 box.
