Pertronix Part no. 1847 is what I've used since 1997 in my two of my 140s.
I don't know what the "V" extension on your part number is for.

I think George covered the 164 conversion. I'd add that you will be able to use any '68-'72 140 series manual pedal box on your '72. Do not try a '73 or '74 pedal box - it will not fit properly due to the firewall shape being different.
