I have a lock cylinder (which has tumblers in it) in the same condition.
That is, the tab that sticks out the back seems to be loose on the cylinder so that
it does NOT turn as far as the key turns. I suspect this looseness is part of the reason
that so many 122, PV and other ignition switches go bad - not being turned FULLY to the
start position, resulting in arcing at the internal contacts, requiring that the switch
be turned further to reach a contact position. But since it won't quite turn that far,
you start breaking keys...
I sent my lock cylinder to one of our posters here on the brickboard and he said he
would not be able to fix it. One of these days I'll look it over and see if there IS
a way to fix it. I'll post here when I succeed.
